ABSENTEE VOTING:
Absentee request period starts 90 days prior to any election. We normally receive the ballots for an election 30 days prior. When we receive the ballots, we send them out to any and all voters who have submitted an application for that election. You must submit a request for each election to receive an absentee ballot. Within the 30 days prior to each Election, voters may come in to the Clerk's Office and Vote in Person as well, no application needed.
1. Electronic Requests
You can apply for an absentee ballot through the State of Maine portal. Follow the prompts and fill in your info, and the City Clerk will receive an email stating that there are pending requests the following day. We then check the portal for our voters and process each request that comes through. Using this method, you will receive confirmation that we have either received or denied your request. This portal is also available for Over Seas voters.
2. Voting at City Hall (Absentee Voting Only!)
A voter may cast their absentee ballot at City Hall during normal working hours, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting 30 days prior to the election. Friday and Monday before election day-Special Circumstances absentee balloting applies.
