You can have your proof of insurance faxed directly from your insurance agent. Proof of insurance should be faxed to the tax office at (207) 338-6222.Tax Collector

Tax Collector
Taxes are usually billed in September and are due in early-October. Interest begins the day after the due date. Eight to 10 months after billing, the lien process begins. A 30-day demand letter will be sent to notify the assessed owner. If taxes are not paid in full at the end of the 30-day period, a lien is placed on the property and recorded at the Waldo County Register of Deeds.

All calls to the Belfast Police Department are received through the Waldo Regional Communications Center. Every call is prioritized according to the seriousness of the incident and location. The communications officers may not be able to provide you with a response time as many calls may be received at once.Police

Please do not call the Police Department to find out if school has been canceled. The school district will notify the television and radio stations should school be canceled or delayed. These are your best sources for this information.Police

To obtain or renew a concealed firearms permit, please pick up an application from the Police Department: 112 Church St. Belfast, ME 04915 The fee is $35 for a new permit and $20 for a permit renewal.Police

Permits to operate an uninspected motor vehicle can be obtained at the Police Station: 112 Church St. Belfast, ME 04915 Station hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.Police

You may request a copy of a traffic crash report in person or by mail. Copies of incidents that are currently under investigation will not be released until completed. There is a fee of $5 for the first page and $1 for each additional page. For requests by mail, please send a brief note that includes your name, return address, and the date of your incident to the Belfast Police Department: Records Bureau 112 Church St. Belfast, Maine 04915 Please include a check or money order for the correct number of pages made out to the City of Belfast.Police

The municipal election is now held at the same time as the State of Maine general and referendum elections, held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November. To submit a FOAA request, please fill out this form and submit it to the Communications Assistant. You may submit a request via email, mail, or in person.
