Deputy Fire Chief
The City of Belfast, a dynamic mid-coast Maine community of 7,000 with a Council form of government, seeks to hire a full-time Deputy Fire Chief who is experienced, collaborative, and community oriented. The Department is a full-time, year-round Fire, EMS, and rescue service which responds to over 330 fire and 2,538 EMS calls annually.
The successful candidate will work effectively as a team with our Fire Chief and volunteers and will be an experienced, visionary leader with exceptional management, organizational, and tactical skills. The Deputy Chief must have a background and experience in all matters related to modern firefighting practices, fire prevention, inspections, emergency medical services (EMS), emergency management including establishing an EOC, hazardous materials, and technical rescue operations; specifically, water and high/low angle rescue.
The Deputy Chief must have a demonstrated record of ethical leadership that creates a cohesive work environment that garners the confidence and respect of the Firefighters, EMS staff and members of the community. The Deputy Chief must have excellent internal and external communications skills, be results driven, and foster a work environment that promotes employee involvement and accountability.
