2003 Fire Department Annual Report

The Fire Department has 32 paid volunteers which includes two
assistant Fire Chiefs, Captain, Lieutenant, Scott Officer, Safety
Officer and a Training Officer.
The total number of fire alarms for 2003 was 256.
The “Jaws of Life” responds to Belfast, Northport, Belmont,
Morrill, Waldo, and Swanville on serious vehicle accidents. We
provide Fire Mutual Aid to Searsport, Northport, Searsmont, Belmont,
Morrill and Waldo when requested.
This year the Fire Department purchased a cold water/ice
rescue sled with equipment and a new 2003 Pumper/Tanker. The Fire
Department was also awarded a FEMA Grant of $60,930 to install a
vehicle diesel exhaust removal system. This is now fully installed
and operational.

The Fire Department made seventeen (17) fire calls to the Town
of Swanville.
