NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS – CODE OF ORDINANCES

The Belfast City Council, at its regular Council meeting of Tuesday, February 17, 2009, shall conduct a public hearing associated with the second reading of proposed amendments to the City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 78, Floods, and Chapter 66, General Provisions. The hearing will be held in the Council Chambers of Belfast City Hall, which is located at 131 Church Street, and shall begin at 7:00 p.m. or as soon as practical thereafter. Persons who may be affected by the proposals are encouraged to attend the hearing and to offer comment. Comments also can be submitted in writing or via email. Written comment should be sent to Roberta Fogg, City Clerk, City of Belfast, 131 Church St., Belfast, ME, 04915. Email comment should be sent to cityclerk@cityofbelfast.org.

The proposed amendments to Chapter 78, Floods, are needed to ensure the City Floodplain program is consistent with current federal and state requirements. It is noted that there are no changes proposed to the current Flood Map. The proposed amendments to Chapter 66, General Provisions, involve changes to definitions associated with the Flood Ordinance.

A copy of the proposed amendments are available for public inspection at either the City Clerk’s office or the Department of Planning & Community Development offices in Belfast City Hall; 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. The proposal also is available for inspection on the City web site; cityofbelfast.org.
